Terms & Conditions

Nigerian Scholars in Italy (“NiSIT”, “we”, “us”) is a national community network supporting Nigerian students and professionals in Italy, from pre-admission through post-arrival integration. These terms are governed by Italian law and apply alongside our Privacy Notice, which explains how we handle personal data.

The platform is intended for prospective and current Nigerian students and professionals connected to Italy, and for others we invite to participate in the community. You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity carried out under your account. Notify us immediately at nisitassociation@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

NiSIT offers different levels of access to the platform (for example, public visitor access and member tiers). Access to certain features, such as the member directory, event registration, or the blog, may be reserved for registered members. We may verify the information you provide as part of onboarding and may decline, suspend, or terminate an account where information provided is false, or where these terms or our Code of Conduct are breached.

When using the platform, you agree not to:

• Provide false, misleading, or impersonated information.
• Use the platform to harass, discriminate against, or harm other members.
• Post unlawful, defamatory, or infringing content in the blog, events, or profile sections.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or to the platform’s systems.
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute member data or platform content for purposes unrelated to your participation in the NiSIT community.
• Use the platform for commercial solicitation not authorised by NiSIT.

Community conduct expectations are further detailed in our Code of Conduct, which forms part of these terms where published.

You retain ownership of the content you submit (such as profile information, blog posts, and comments). By submitting content, you grant NiSIT a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that content on the platform and in related NiSIT communications, for as long as your account or the content remains active. You are solely responsible for content you submit and confirm you have the right to share it. We may review, edit, or remove content that breaches these terms or our Code of Conduct, without prior notice.

Where you register for an event through the platform, we use your registration information to manage attendance and communicate event details. NiSIT is not liable for the conduct of third parties at events, or for events organised by external hosts and merely listed or promoted through the platform. Event details are provided in good faith but may change; we recommend confirming details close to the event date.

The NiSIT name, logo, and website design are the property of NiSIT and may not be used without our prior written consent. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of NiSIT intellectual property to you.

The resource hub and other areas of the platform may link to third-party websites or resources (for example, university, visa, or scholarship information) for convenience. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of third-party sites.

The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. NiSIT is a volunteer-run, non-profit community network; we do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses, and we do not guarantee the accuracy of user-submitted or third-party content. To the fullest extent permitted by Italian law, NiSIT and its officers and volunteers shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including for wilful misconduct or gross negligence.

We may suspend or terminate your account, at our discretion and with notice where reasonably possible, if you breach these terms, our Code of Conduct, or applicable law. You may deactivate your account at any time by contacting us at nisitassociation@gmail.com. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. We will post the updated terms on this page with a revised effective date, and, where changes are material, notify members through the platform or by email. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Italy. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms shall, where not resolved amicably, be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent Italian courts, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the law of your country of residence.
